Overview
The foundation of a successful Internet search campaign is the accuracy of business records at the local level. Today businesses have to deal with outdated information, closed locations and inaccurate telephone numbers that continue to appear in search results. These errors represent lost business and a negative customer experience. It also creates client frustration if they look to an advertising agency to fix it. At the same time Search Engines are looking for more details such as brands, coupons and photos, none of which come from traditional data sources. However there is a solution.
Our Mission
To provide a cost effective solution for businesses or their agencies to enter comprehensive listing data about their company in one place and have that data be distributed uniformly to all major Internet Business Listings Directories, including Online Yellow Pages, Search Engines, Local Portals and 411 Directory Assistance services.
Our Model
An Industry initiative – a .org site that offers a single entry point for complete business profile information in the best standards available, including hCard formatting. These are submitted to publishers as “default” listings created by the business or the agency that represents them and which certifies them as accurate. An Industry committee will hold the database in escrow and will define data component standards. All Directories will be able to access the data electronically for free as long as they meet minimal requirements.
- We will partner with advertising agencies, CMR’s and Interactive agencies and offer commissions based upon overall annual volume commitment.
- These partners become the UBL Agency of Record and no other entity can add or change a listing for their client; the relationship is locked.
- Directories, agencies and related Industry groups may also promote links as affiliates to www.universalbusinesslisting.org so businesses can self-serve data entry in one location.
- Agencies or other entities that represent large numbers of businesses can bulk upload data electronically. Updates are free and loaded real-time to the platform.
- Approved Directories can bulk download the data electronically, or UBL enters the information on the Publisher sites manually.

What We Will Not Do
UBL will not compete with you. We are neither an online directory company nor a data re-seller. We will not re-market your customer’s data to anyone. We are strictly a repository of business information created by the customer and the agencies that represent them.
